Hotel Description:
- 14 stories, 192 rooms and suites; all suites with two-person whirlpool spas, all completely rebuilt in 1998 by the Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group. With it's sensually rich decor, the Hotel Monaco-Chicago intends to pamper and seduce guests with a sense of escape to faraway places while enveloping them in sheer comfort. Award-winning designer Cheryl Rowley turns to early Deco and the works of Emil Jacques Ruhlmann, a French furniture and theatrical designer, for her inspiration. Her alluring design aesthetic is infused throughout the hotel beginning with the visually stunning grand living room with its painted woodwork in "string of pearl" detail, plush furnishings of damask and velvet, and a jeweled-tone color palate of light gold, cream, coral red, copper and rich chocolate brown. Evoking a playful sense of travel, the registration desk is modeled after a classic steamer trunk, and a cast limestone fireplace serves as a centerpiece of the lobby. Each guestroom echoes Rowley's unique vision.

The 192 guest rooms and suites of Hotel Monaco Chicago envelop a traveler in sheer comfort. The rooms are wrapped in six-inch vertical striped wall covering in pistachio green and butter crème yellow, with a lipstick red, quilted headboard to accent the yellow, copper, lipstick red and green bedspread. Goldfish care and feeding is administered by the trained hotel staff under the guidance of Chicago's Shedd Aquarium, a partner of the Hotel Monaco Chicago. |
